Nick and Janette’s Wedding Reception at Kanu
Wow – this was one of those all over the place, seriously rocking receptions. The food was incredible – putting out good food for nearly a hundred people isn’t easy and Kanu just made it all look so effortless. The music was superp – best wedding band I’ve seen in years and Janette also sang beautifully for her man! You can check out the band’s site here: http://www.crimsonlive.co.za/ and hands down the greatest bouquet / garter dance I’ve ever seen. One of Janette’s guy friends caught the bouquet and when Daniel the MC mentioned that it was customary for the catcher of the bouquet and garter to dance together everyone just gathered round and watched the fun.
Add to that just the plain joy and emotion that everyone experienced . . . and you have the makings of a great reception.
Dan and I both shot the reception and chopped and changed cameras as we went so I have to say that I’m not really sure whose shots are whose, or, given that we were shooting with three cameras, what order they should strictly be in. But I love the shots of the speeches and the looks of happiness on everyone’s faces. Dan and I also sat at the table with Nick’s grandparents. And I couldn’t resist snapping off his Ouma with tears in her eyes and his Oupa just at the end of the prayers and before he’d opened his eyes. The shot of Nick with his Oupa is just priceless. I love that Anton, Robbie and Daniel and his fiance were so comfortable with Dan and I that they were very happy hamming it up for the camera.
And then, because we’d run out of time on the bridal shoot and we hadn’t had a chance to shoot all the girls together we did the shot of Janette and her bridesmaids, Sian, Catherine and Chane in the bathroom. Yep, I know, I have a thing about shooting people in bathrooms – but I loved the lights and the mirrors!
Enjoy the shots
