Last of the Lazy Weekends

This weekend past was definitely the last of the lazy weekends. I’d been booked to shoot a Trash the Dress with Tasneem (watch this space!) but we decided to move it in case of rain (typical Cape Town, it rained for half an hour). Instead of work Dan and I did as little as humanly possible. But we did cook . . . boy, did we cook. Saturday morning I had a hankering for good coffee and flap jacks (my first ever batch, not that I did the frying and flipping – I left that to my man who’s more experienced in these things), lunch was cheese and mushroom pasta (courtesty of Dan, which I was too hungry to photograph), supper was a braai on one of those perfect, forever nights (also courtesy of Dan and ditto on the hunger and the lack of photographs) and then Sunday lunch I did fillet (courtesy of Dan’s mom – gotta love my mom-in-law, she does random pop-ins. . . with food!!). The fillet was just over rare, the mash was done with honey and Dijon mustard and the sauce was a cream reduction with mushrooms, Nomu beef stock (great stock), fresh rosemary and garlic(though I mistimed the fillet and so the sauce didnt’ get that much reducing before it was put on top of the food and consumed). And then I couldn’t resist adding the pics of Bear eating the left over yoghurt from our flapjacks. And finally, I also managed to get some shots of Storm (aka Stormin Norman, aka Ones, aka OneyTwoShoes) our cross Siamese girl who’s very, very, very hard to photograph. It’s not just the ellusive kitty presence (she’s a big time hunter and is often away for a day or two at a time) but also the black and white contrast of her fur. Today it was all systems go again, processing, collating print orders and organising plane tickets for next year’s Gauteng shoot (with Simone and Brett – hi guys!). And then from this coming weekend winter is officially over and the wedding season begins. I think I better go take my vitamin shots and get my ass back to yoga!
